Getting the Most Out of Your First Consultation
OK... so you've booked a first consultation with us. Here are some tips for making sure you get the most out of the appointment.
- Relax... It's supposed to be fun. We've got a private fitting room, big enough for you and a couple of friends/relatives to really enjoy the experience. We'll offer you and your guests a drink and if you want music as a soundtrack to your consultation bring along your iPod or let us provide something for you.
- Plan enough time... we allow one and a half hours for a first consultation and 45 minutes for any follow up sessions.
- Think about your wedding venue and how you want the wedding to feel (Relaxed? Formal? Romantic? Alternative?). By understanding this you can match the dress to the mood.
- By all means read all the wedding magazines, surf the net, talk to other brides but also try to approach the first consultation with an open mind. What looks good in a magazine may not work for you. During the fitting don't be afraid to try on some different styles... we're not going to make you buy them just because you've tried them on! We often find that what you may not like on the hanger comes alive when the right girl wears it and that right girl might just be you. It's a bit like finding your prince... you might have to kiss a few frogs on the way!
- Don't be frightened to try on a few veils and tiaras. It's difficult to imagine the overall effect of these sorts of items when you're back in your "normal" clothes.
- Take along someone whose opinion you trust... But remember it's your dress at the end of the day.
- Give us a fighting chance of getting the right dress for you... if you have some specific requirements let us know before hand... we can get in dresses at pretty short notice so if you're worried about sizes or there is a colour you've got in your mind tell us when arranging your consultation and well do our best to get something in for you.
- Be prepared... Wear underwear that you feel comfortable in, keep the make-up and tanning lotions to a minimum (otherwise most of it will end up on the neck line of the dress), if you have a specific pair of shoes in mind for the wedding day bring them along (although we have a range of Filippa Scott shoes you can use).
- Turn up on time. We may have very little time between appointments so being late could mean that your appointment is cut short. If you're running late... give us a call to let us know and we might be able to juggle things around for you.
